A TLN Blog Update...and Great News About a Conference at the White House!

Apologies for the sparse postings lately. We are working hard to integrate this blog with the TLN website (right now they are under two different URLs - long story), and it's all taking a little longer than expected to switch over. Partly because we are switching from Blogger to Wordpress. Those of you who don't blog will be nonplussed, but those of you who have ever tried switching from one blog platform to another might be quaking in your boots at the thought! I certainly am. So, needless to say, bear with us as we make the transition.

In the meantime, we're still posting all kinds of good information on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/therapeuticlandscapes), so please become a "fan" and join the party over there. For those of you not (yet!) on Facebook, I'll simply say that it's not just a site where kids share pictures of last night's drinking binge. Most businesses and non-profit organizations have Facebook pages, and it's an excellent way to stay informed about what's going on and to connect with other like-minded people. For example, today the TLN, and Outdoor Afro, and the Children & Nature Network all posted information about tomorrow's Conference on America's Great Outdoors at the White House. That's right! The Obama administration cares about the connections between us and nature.

I don't know why the preview image isn't displaying for this video; it will play if you hit play - it's a few-minute shot of the serviceberries pictured above, swaying in the breeze with the sound of birds chirping in the background. Maybe in Wordpress it'll show up! Enjoy.

The serviceberries look gorgeous ~ I'm longing for some outdoor flowers. Just one bloom would be nice. I wanted to let you know that I love my new TLN canvas bag from cafe press. It is so roomy ~ the image on the front is gorgeous.

Thanks, Kate. Where are you that you cannot have any outdoor flowers? Surely you could do a window box at the very least? Or maybe you're just further north and nothing's blooming yet? I'm so glad you like your bag! I didn't know you had ordered one. Thanks very much for your support. Hope you're having a great spring.

What a difference a few days make. The temperatures went from around freezing last week to very warm. My first flower opened yesterday morning. As often happens here, we seem to go from winter to summer in one great leap. Thankfully, I have a garden.

Good morning,
I have recently come across your blog (I'm retired and not a computer expert-so just learning about blogs)in researching information for my daughter who is 34 and in college hoping to become a Horticultural Therapist. She has attended some seminars and I am unable to access info here about the conference to be held in Washington DC - please direct me or advise what I am missing. I have enjoyed what I have read so far-my dad was a master gardener and we all love gardening. My 92 year old mom still has a green thumb and my 6 year old grandson grows the best strawberries. Thanks for your input - God Bless,
Jan Cutter

Hi Janis, sorry that you couldn't get the D.C. info. Please contact me (or have your daughter do so) through the TLN website: http://www.healinglandscapes.org/contact.html. I'd be happy to guide her in the right direction. Lots of great resources on HT. You/she can start at http://www.healinglandscapes.org/related-horticultural.html. Hope that helps. Oh, and please make a note that we've moved over to wordpress, and our blog's new address is http://www.healinglandscapes.org/blog/. Thanks for your comment!
