Green Walls for Healing Gardens

This post has moved! Please visit the Therapeutic Landscapes Network Blog at our new WordPress home, http://www.healinglandscapes.org/blog/2009/11/green-walls-for-healing-gardens/ to see more pictures and read what we have to say. We're keeping the comments here, though, since they were so great. See you over there!

Note from Naomi: "Max" and "Peg" left these comments on the earlier all caps version of this post, which I was able to figure out a way to change, but not without deleting the two comments. So, their own words:

"I am in love with these walls!! The images are incredibly beautiful, but the possibility of applications is awesome. I'm going to figure out how to do this on my large balcony wall! Thanks! "

"Gorgeous walls! So many possibilities."

Naomi, so glad you're calling attention to how green affects our psyche positively in this largely gray, concrete urban world we inhabit. Weaving green into the cityscape is healthy both environmentally and physically (reduces pollutants, helps ease asthma, etc). And, per the sociological broken windows theory (in reverse), a more beautiful environment inspires others in it to fix up and beautify their part of the environment too.
Apparently, Cleveland Clinic is working on a project to weave more gardens into their healing spaces. Have you heard of this?

I don't think I know about the Cleveland Clinic, Bridget. Do you have more info? Always looking for great examples of therapeutic gardens.
